SO WHAT'S THE BUZZ?

Do we have a purpose? Some divine purpose which gives a deeper meaning to our lives? It seems a questions which gets asked too seldom these days.

We buzz around furiously like worker bees, slaving to make the honey-money needed in a modern world, simply to stay alive. But while the worker bee works day in and day out to gather honey to feed the young of the hive never asking why, never seeking either praise or payment, totally unaware of their role underpinning life itself - for if bees decided to stop, strike or protest, flora would remain un-pollinated, food would not grow and life as we know it would cease to exist.

The role of mankind on our planet vastly overshadows that of the bee. We too have power over the continued existence - or demise - of our planet. But the fundamental difference: while the bee merrily goes about his business, doing his job and sustaining life, we question everything, refute many things, have lost our collective identity and feel no guilt for the carnage that we have inflicted on each other and our planet. And no doubt, those we love will one day feel the brunt of our indiscretions, because we have forgotten our purpose.
