So silver tongued Surreal gives the go ahead for another task team to look into, around and over Uys-gaan, while comedy Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs moves from media madness into pernicious politicking. Hoo boy. In the golden years of British comedy, they had John Cleese and others poking dry jest at the status quo. Right here and now, we don’t need comedians (although thank the ancestors for okes like Noah - not the boat guy; Trev, to fill in the gaps and provide clunk moments), we have the real deal to laugh at. All that’s needed is the Sunday Times to change its name to MAD Magazine Azania, and the picture will be complete.

And now with elections around the corner, we see them coming out of the woodwork from all sides, the good (a rare sighting at the moment), the bad, and maybe some not so bad, shouting and flirting for us to vote for them. Sorry about the last how many years, you see it was... it was... oh ja! State Capture, White Monopoly Capital, and infestations of duck-billed platapi (or is it pusses) in outer Mongolia ...and other Grimm Faerie Tales. But not them. These ones are gonna make it better. Like instant Band-Aid strips just waiting to happen.

'Vote for me!' they scream from billboards, television and radio. ‘It’s up to us’ on social media. And not only do we listen to and take in their bullshit, we put them on pedestals, elevating them to the stature almost of deities, turning blind eyes to their dirty dealings, malicious shenanigans and lame excuses for plundering instead of producing, quietly muttering our disapprova

l behind private walls and high fences as these same raiders of the ark-being-lost, tip-toe through small print as supposed custodians of the law, actually guns for hire in luxury suites on the taxpayer sponsored gravy train, laughing the whole way to the bank - at the suckers they protect, as well as us, the suckers who pay. Am I missing something? I thought the legal system was to protect and safeguard against deception, abuse and skullduggery.

..The law should be a lighthouse exposing the dirt, not a safe house for scoundrels and their lawyers to distort and manipulate loopholes. Surely politicians and business leaders should be above that? Obviously not...

And we suck in their politically correct , media spun sugar-coatings spilt out in cute phrases and smarmy spin to polarise ‘the truth’ in the names of outdated ideologies on all sides, which also from all sides, seems more to spill blood than build prosperity.

And why is there so seldom talk of right and wrong, honour and integrity, truth and true justice? I like to believe once upon a time, men were honourable, chivalrous, respectful, and understood not just the law, but right and wrong - and the law itself was moulded around the interests of the communities the leaders deemed to serve.

It’s little wonder we men are falling to the bottom of the food chain. Is it because we have become as useless as males in the wild, needed only before mating season to tear each other to shreds for the right to do all the girls. And after the dirty once the seeds are sown, to disappear again onto the fringes of the pack, to preen their manes and lick their balls. Surely we are better than that? We have a voice and must use it. Play our role to assert morality and integrity, not wheel slimy deals which cost us trust, our honour and our souls.

...And meanwhile the honour which we so need, all wrapped and strangled within the torn and tattered shrouds of Civilisation, Progress and Democracy. ...Is this what democracy is all about? In the days of auld, kings ruled and didn’t give a shit what you said. They ruled and you obeyed; simple. Nowadays with democracy, we can vote - but ultimately, it is still king and royalty separated from the serfs and peasants, only by different names. And in the end, the king and his counsel then still move on, not giving a shit what the common man has to say, and we shut up and do what we do in the name of ...who knows...

I don’t want to see my leaders prancing around like peacocks, sprouting endlessly but saying nothing. I don’t want to hail business leaders who play old boys games to enrich themselves and their companies, while squeezing and starving their consumer bases. It is unfortunate that we have become so addicted to our high-tech material worlds, and ironic that w have access to more information than ever before, and yet we still refuse to acknowledge the wood for the trees. We are actively busy sacrificing our futures in the face of known, real and understood consequences, to feed the beast busy consuming our world and the future of our children, and then going home every night with our Judas silver to watch the news and Discovery Channel, depending whether positive, negative, concerned or stupid. We know who the culprits and bad guys are, and what they are doing, but instead of being vilified, many of said bottom-feeders are glorified. Crazy stuff.

The reality is we can have the world we want. We just have to do what is right to preserve it. And another reality, whichever way we jump, ultimately we will land up with the world we deserve. It is actually up to us.

So now to all the new players sucking up to us for power and prestige, you want my vote? Easy. First state categorically how you will get rid of corruption both in public and private sector. And not only a few token beheadings of a few middle-top danglers, but how you intend to purge the cancer the whole way from the outside to the gut and bone. Because as long as the rot prevails anywhere, it will spread. Even when the head is cut off, these snakes will not die, they will simply grow new heads. The rot must go and I would like to know how?

Then rather then going on about who you are and where you come from, please share with me where you think we are headed and how we’re going to get there. Share your game plan, explain your timeline. Yeah of course I understand everything can’t be done at once; there have to be priorities. But what are those priorities? When do you start? When does each element end? And how long will it take us to get to where you will lead?

And then how are you going to address what seems to be a deepening of racial intolerance. How are you going to unite us? Please Mr. Incumbent. Please explain not who you are, who you represent and where you come from. Just get to the point and tell us what you intend to do for us, and how? I’m all ears.
