DOES DARK MATTER?

So maybe there is some truth to ancient alien theories, but with three discrepancies to most common thought: the aliens were not anthromorphic in any way, the time frames are way off, and they weren’t intelligent.

When the Earth was born four and a half billion years ago, the conditions were way too extreme to support life, and the planet had no water. Both H2O and life were imports, thanks to comets that had been lingering out in space for just the right moment in time.

First came the comet showers which brought us our water, and then the comets which brought the ancient building blocks of life itself. The rest, as they say, is history. Or is it?

It seems spirituality is dying on planet earth as more and more believe the stories portrayed in religious texts could have no grounding in reality. And the senseless argument of blind faith no longer does the trick.

But does that mean God does not exist and spirituality has no place in an exponentially evolving world? I believe no - God does exist, but just not in the shape or form, or with the behaviour patterns that we have assigned to ‘him’. And I believe to understand, all we have to do is lift the shroud which science seems to have used to argue against the existence of a Creator.

Firstly, they say that solar and planetary systems evolve from massive molecular clouds suspended all over space, residual debris floating around after the Big Bang which created our Universe. There are billions of these molecular clouds in the Universe, and there are millions of solar systems in our galaxy alone, which could spawn life.

Then, looking deeper at galaxies, scientists observed that many are spinning so fast, the stars on the outer strands furthest from the centres, should have flown off into deep space eons ago. They figured out that the gravitational attraction which pulls these outer extremities towards the centre could not be enough to contain them. To compensate for this force, they hypothesized an entity which cannot be seen, detected or measured in any other way than by the fact that these outer stars remain in their orbits. They called this Dark Matter and have estimated that this ‘substance’ accounts for 70% of all ‘matter’ in the Universe.

On further exploration of deep space, scientists were for awhile amazed to find that instead of galaxies slowing with time under the forces of gravity, they were accelerating outwards towards the boundaries of infinity, despite there being no apparent force or reason for the universe to behave this way. To account for this, they named it Dark Energy and suggest that of ALL the matter AND energy combined to make up the Universe, 80% is Dark Energy.

On the other end of the scale, we hear of neutrinos. Minute little particles that are emitted by celestial bodies all the time. And these neutrinos have no restrictions. Trillions of them are passing through planets, animals, us, every second of every day, undetected and unseen. But they are there, or so the scientists say.

So what about God? Well obviously not the guy with the long white beard - or any anthromorphic or physically defined entity. Could he be more like Dark Matter and Dark Energy, holding the Universe together by some divine plan way beyond our capacity to comprehend to understand? Is ‘his’ presence more like the neutrinos, always there, always will be whether we know so or not, doing things beyond human reason?

Maybe we have been looking at things wrong for too long, wanting to separate body and spirit into spatial manifestations and silos. Maybe our souls are like fields of neutrinos. Maybe the God consciousness is Dark Matter and Energy (bit sad we generally classify things we do not understand as ‘dark’).

And a final thought: We are still perplexed by how ancient civilisations were able to move massive megaliths great distances. The chances are they might have been more advanced than us - and may even have harnessed the power of a very strange universe, the Dark Energy of gravitational repulsion. It’s a crazy world out there.
